Extra Money Well Spent ... : Whitmor 6058-90 Supreme Garment Rack, Chrome
This garment rack costs a little more than most. However, it is worth it. The full rectangular shape adds extra sturdiness.
A few notes that may save others' time:
1. It definitely takes two people to put this rack together.
2. Instructions are somewhat lacking with respect to the plastic fasteners: they fail to point out that on each fastener there is a "top". Once you realize that the top is slightly wider than the bottom two pieces, the work goes smoothly.
Because the instructions were not clear I had to call customer service which turned out to be a most helpful and painless experience!

sturdy closet : Seville Classics Expandable Closet Organizer STR05813, Chrome
I recently built a new house, and can't afford the built in closet that I want at the moment, so rather than just installing closet rods, I decided to buy a couple of these until I can afford to do what I really want.
Assembly is fairly simple, and the instructions are sufficient, if not as detailed as I would like. It took about 45 minutes to completely assemble the first one, and I expect the second one to take 25 minutes or so.
I am pretty satisfied with the sturdiness, although you cannot completely expand the rods and keep the stability. I would say you lose about 6-8 inches length.
The organizer is OK to look at, but would have been more attractive in a brushed chrome finish instead.
It includes a little strap to screw it to the wall to increase stability, but if I load it up enough to make it wobbly, I will probably brace it with something other than a little cloth strap.

This shoe rack is made much best than I had anticipated. All things about it is solid, including the wheels with locks (but I did not install). Although it is not beautiful, it is pretty good looking. If you want a solidly made shoe rack, look no further. I am able to fit 40 pairs of men's size 9 shoes on the rack. 4 pairs per shelf. Yes, I know. What is a man doing with 40 pairs of shoes... :)

I ordered two units and they both came less than 24hrs later. Let me tell you, for the people who say that you need two people to set this up are wrong! I set up both units in less than 30mins, make sure you keep and read the (easy)instructions that actually a 10yr old can understand. actually folks I'm not over thinking this product, it actually is worth every penny, very sturdy. It came with some extra pieces. If I had a complaint on whatever it would be that I wish I could of found the same unit with out the casters.
